Here I am almost 4 weeks into the new year and resolutions fell flat. In fact they never even took flight, not one. I would really like a do over for this year. Let me tell you why - I started a new job on 12/31 and it has not worked out as I would have liked. It is a new position and if I had known that I would have steered clear of it especially since I was in consideration for an other position. I have never had any luck with those "new position" jobs, they never have any structure and I like some structure. But it was the lure of a lot more money and better benefits. So now I constantly hear this nagging voice in the back of my head saying "You should have waited it out for the other job!" I can transfer out after 12 months, so now I am stuck here for 48 more weeks less 4 weeks vacation, 3 personal days and 11 more holidays, but who is counting.
On the knitting scene, I recently finished a really cute charcoal gray hat, a bit too small for me or either one of the girls, so it is off to be donated to a local charity. I have been working on these cable rib socks from Favorite Socks and they are taking me forever! Usually a pair of socks takes me less than a month, this one sock is taking me a month alone. I may just put it away once the first one is done and work on something else. I did make a quick felted bag. I love the yarn and the way it felted.
One more resolution - I will try to post pics of FO.

Happy New Year

I started a new job yesterday, so I am planning that 2008 will be a much better year than last. So as I start the new year I will try my best to do the following:
Post at least weekly
Exercise 3x per week
Put myself first for a change
Keep the house picked up
Branch out on my knitting

Hard drive is crashed

The reason for the infrequent blogging is due to the lack of home computer. Hard drive crashed and husband claimed that he would have it fixed. As well intentioned as he is, the thing is not fixed or replaced at this point in time. The kids have been checking e-mail at the local library and living without IM for a month. They have been surviving just fine.
It has been an eventful month. We moved, not by choice of our own. We were forced out of the house that we have rented for 13 years by the landlord from hell. It is a painful story, not worth recounting here. We found a huge house to rent in our home town and we are happy there. The kids are particularly happy with the move. The biggest issue is that the girls living on the 3rd floor, so calling them for supper is always an adventure. I think that we will need to invest in walkie talkies. As mom always says everything happens for a reasone and it was just time to go and the landlord from hell gave us a gift by making us move.
As I was moaning and complaining about our move and just about to throw myself a pitty party I learned that a dear friend and mother of 2 has colon cancer and the outlook is not good. That news made me feel better about my own personal situation.
The kids are back in school as of Tuesday. The girls are playing soccer and Brian is doing his own thing. The summer went by too fast.
As for knitting, I finished some socks for my sister and a MD washcloth. I have and other pair of socks on the sticks and the MD baby kimono. I will have pitcures of house, knitting etc. when the new computer arrives. Hopefully within the next few day.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. With all of the knitting blogs I have been reading I thought it was time to get my own underway. It will start slow, but that is how the Yarn Harlot http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/ started. I can only dream of being that skilled.
Stay tuned to watch the blog take on a life of its own.
